Good Friday in Singapore

Stanley was well looked after on the flight from Dubai to Singapore, he had his own cabin attendant. The flight was fairly uneventful and as we had the lie-flat seats Rosena managed nearly four hours sleep, Dave on the other hand was not quite so lucky. Breakfast on board was quite interesting if you liked chicken sauseages or Aloe Vera yoghurt, which Rosena found she did!
The descent to Singapore airport was pretty spectacular, we saw 99% of all the world's shipping (or so Dave says).

Walking out of the air conditioned airport, the heat and humidity were something we have only encountered in a steam room. This problem was solved by a man with a Mercades who whisked us away to the Intercontinental hotel.

We arrived at reception to be invited to check in privately in the club lounge, which was very flattering but took an age. At last we were able to get a shower and an hour's shut eye. When we came round we were able to appreciate a very nice room on the 11th floor with an excellent view of the swimming pool on the 4th floor roof below us. The complimentary cocktail hour beckoned so we headed down to the lounge for our share. The nibbles were particularly good - in fact so good that we didn't need an evening meal afterwards.
After this hedonistic excess we took a stroll around a couple of blocks near the hotel. The hustle and bustle is quite amazing but everybody seems very friendly and good humoured. We took shelter in a local market when the heavens opened for a few minutes and stocked up on tonics. This done we turned in to try to catch up on some sleep.

I'm going to go to work now, which is obviously completely glam. So have fun.
