Easter Monday - Phew wotta scorcher!

What a difference a day makes. Our body clocks still haven't adjusted so we were up well before the larks again. Usual excellent breakfast and then Dave went out for a stroll. The sky was absolutely blue at 8.30 a.m. and the sun was blazing down making the streets like an oven. We have probably been lucky to have cloudy, damp weather as the heat is too much for us. We have retreated to the air conditioned Club Lounge to use the wi-fi.

The Intercontinental has been fabulous and it is a shame to have to pack our belongings and move on but all good things have to make way for other good things (Emirates don't let us down). This morning's news had footage of a Chinese coal carrying ship aground on the Great Barrier Reef not far from where we are due to vist. Let's hope that it doesn't break up.

Our man with a Mercedes turned up promptly at noon and delivered us unto Changi Airport where we strolled through check in and into the Emirates lounge. Singapore has made a very favourable impression on us (especially the lack of discarded chewing gum) and we would cheerfully come back for another visit. The most striking thing is the general air of affluence and the good manners of everybody that we met. It makes large chunks of the UK look somewhat third world. We are currently sipping our complimentaries and watching the planes out on the apron. Not sure when our next post will be as we will have to find a broadband connection somewhere.
